Up until the last few years I wouldn't have described myself as a very emotional person, in fact I would have said the opposite. Looking back I can see I was firmly rooted in masculine energy and it took me a long time to learn how to lean back into my feminine energy.

But it’s almost unsettling how things shift when you find yourself in a relationship where you actually feel safe. When someone else is providing a healthy masculine energy it can allow you to soften and open up a bit.

Every person, regardless of gender, carries both masculine and feminine energy. It’s not about being a man or a woman, it’s about balance. And while we all embody both, we tend to thrive when we lean into what feels most natural. It’s the yin and yang, the push and pull that creates harmony. Men thrive when they can provide, protect, and give. Women, on the other hand, become their most radiant and magnetic when they soften into their intuition and trust. Feminine energy isn’t about weakness; it’s about openness. It’s about learning to receive, to feel, to trust. And when we do everything shifts.

What is Feminine Energy

As I’ve been exploring this concept over the last few years, I’ve turned to the experts to help define what feminine energy really is. Agent Nateur describes it beautifully: “Feminine energy is much more free-flowing than masculine energy. There are fewer rules. It is not restrictive or logical. It’s about intuitive feeling, which often comes into play when you are more connected to yourself. Your creative thoughts and visions can then come through to you more clearly in a free-flowing manner.”

While it might be challenging to put into words, it’s easy to feel. It’s the moment when your work doesn’t feel like a struggle, when it just flows. It’s the feeling of not needing to chase after something or someone, but instead allowing it to come to you. Both energies serve a purpose and both can be used to your advantage. If your career is demanding it's necessary to be in your masculine to be competitive but when you come home you're allowed to soften a bit and lean into your feminine. The point is to not let one overpower the other. Feminine energy isn’t about thinking or working harder, it’s about trusting your intuition, letting go, and allowing things to flow effortlessly. That’s the beauty of it: when you lean into this energy, everything feels more aligned, more effortless. It’s when you finally step back and trust, that’s when the magic happens.

How Do We Lean Into Feminine Energy

Leaning into feminine energy can feel a bit tricky at first because it involves releasing some of the control you’re used to holding on to. But the beauty of it is that once you begin to let go, you open up space for creativity, relaxation, self-care, and flow. There are many activities you can incorporate into your life that help invite this energy in, things that allow you to feel safe, playful, and free.

  • Movement that isn’t structured or rigid: Try dancing, swimming, stretching, Pilates, or yoga, anything that allows you to move freely.

  • Situations where you feel comfortable letting go of control: Whether it’s during a weekend getaway or just letting yourself unwind in a relaxing space.

  • Leaning into your sexual energy: Whether with a partner or on your own, embracing this side of yourself connects you with your feminine power.

  • Engaging in softer hobbies: Spend time playing with your dog or riding horses, explore art, or engage in other activities that bring out your creative, fun side.

  • Loosening your hips: Majority of feminine energy resides in the hips, which are often tight or held from tension. Try massages, stretching, or Pilates to release this energy.

  • Being around healthy masculine energy: Whether it’s a partner or friend, being around healthy masculine energy creates a safe space that allows us to soften into our own feminine energy.

  • Trusting your intuition and your faith: Leaning into the feeling that you are divinely guided and protected allows you to surrender to the flow of life.

  • Having fun: The feminine is the energy that allows us to be playful, silly, and not take life so seriously. Give yourself permission to just have a good time!!

  • Self-care rituals: Whether it’s a skincare routine, playing with makeup, taking an everything shower, or loving on your skin with some new lotions and oils, this isn’t superficial; it’s a powerful way of connecting to your femininity.

  • Creativity: Masculine energy brings planning and structure, while feminine energy is about flow, creation, and expression. Tap into your creative side to nurture this energy You could take a pottery class, try painting, even brain storming new business ideas, it doesn't have to look the same for everybody it just needs to get your imagination and creative thinking going.

Take your time with it, because when you first start leaning into your feminine energy, it can feel a little silly, pointless, or like the opposite of focus and productivity. That’s just the unfamiliarity talking. But remember: the more you practice, the more natural it will feel. Keshia Rice from Medium tells us,“feminine energy is all about nurture, fluidity, and creativity. It’s about faith, empathy, imagination, and inspiration. One of the most common misconceptions about feminine energy is that it’s weak and soft. But as women, we are powerful creators and communicators.”

By allowing ourselves to lean into this energy and release some of the control we cling to, we open ourselves up to greater gifts, gifts that allow us to reach our highest potential. It’s not about abandoning strength, but about embracing a different form of power: the power of flow, intuition, and creativity. The more we let go, the more we invite these gifts to amplify in our lives.
